Use a flanera for best results. Work the sugar fast because once it’s melted it hardens fast and stops flowing. Also, keep a close eye on the sugar because it goes from brown to burnt quickly.

#Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

#Directions

  1. Heat sugar in a pot over medium heat until the sugar melts and is a brown caramel color. Take off the heat and pour into the bottom of the flanera. It should coat the bottom in an even layer.
  2. Add all other ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Don’t over blend, which will add air to the mixture and there will be bubbles in the final flan.
  3. Add blended mixture to flanera.
  4. Place flanera in a water bath with water half way up the sides.
  5. Bake 350 deg 1 hr 15 min.
